The Overtuin Food Forest is a natural oasis in the middle of Rotterdam. Part of Trompenburg Arboretum, this food forest is designed and managed by Coöperatie Ondergrond. Through this collaboration, the rich botanical knowledge of Trompenburg is coupled with the innovative food forest concept.
But what is a food forest? What kind of plants grow in a food forest? And what role can food forests play in the future?
Tom Lovett – Forest Gardener and Storyteller – is one of the caretakers of the Overtuin food forest. He manages and maintains the forests, caring for and harvesting from the plants. Tom will take you on a tour of the Overtuin Food Forest. You will learn about the principles, history and potential of food forests while coming into contact with this unique food forest location.
Friday 24th June 1400-1530
The tour will take around an hour and end with 30 minutes for questions and discussions.
